YOUR DOG’S LIFE STAGES

Your Veterinarian and Technician will educate you on:

PUPPY LIFE STAGE

  • Vaccine booster series and why it’s importance.
  • What vaccines are needed based on pets/owners life style.
    • DHPP (canine distemper combo)
    • Bordetella (kennel cough vaccine)
    • Rabies
    • Giardia
    • Leptospirosis
  • Heartworm Testing
  • Fecal exam and intestinal parasites
  • External parasites
  • Proper diet
  • Behavior and socialization (interacting with other pets and children)
  • Grooming and trimming toe nails
  • Spaying or neutering and what to expect, retained baby teeth
  • Microchipping

ADULT LIFE STAGE: 1-3 YEARS

  • Annual Wellness and fecal Exam
  • Required and recommended vaccines based on lifestyle of pet.
  • Heartworm testing and preventative
  • Flea and tick preventative when appropriate (e.g. traveling)
  • Discuss the importance of Baseline blood work as it relates to organ function
    (kidneys, liver, thyroid, etc)
  • Routine dental health
  • Diet and body condition
  • Behavior issues, socialization and training
  • The importance of spaying or neutering (if not already performed) and disease
    prevention

ADULT LIFE STAGE: 4-7 YEARS

  • Annual Wellness and fecal exam
  • Required and recommended vaccines based on lifestyle of pet.
  • Heartworm testing and preventative
  • Flea and tick preventative when appropriate (e.g. traveling)
  • The importance of routine dental cleaning.
  • Baseline blood work and it’s importance as it relates to organ function
    (kidneys, liver, thyroid, etc)
  • Senior wellness and LFAH recommended testing.
  • Discuss what to expect as their pet makes the transition into senior years.

Senior Life Stage: 7 years and Older

  • Annual wellness and fecal exam.
  • Discuss required and recommended vaccines based on lifestyle of pet.
  • Senior wellness and its importance. Information we get from the following:
    • Baseline bloodwork
    • Urinalysis
    • Radiographs (x-rays) of the chest and abdomen
  • Heartworm testing and prevention
  • Flea and tick prevention if appropriate
  • Pain assessment
  • Current mobility issues
