YOUR CAT’S LIFE STAGES

Your Veterinarian and Technician will educate you on:

Kittens

  • Vaccine booster series and why it’s important.
  • Vaccines that are needed based on pets/owners life style.
    • FVRCP (feline distemper combo)
    • FeLV (feline leukemia)
    • Rabies
  • FeLV/FIV (Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) testing
  • Fecal exam and intestinal parasites
  • External parasites
  • Proper diet
  • Behavior and socialization (interacting with other pets and children)
  • Grooming and trimming toe nails
  • Spaying or neutering and what to expect, retained baby teeth
  • Microchipping

Adult Feline: 1-3 years

  • Annual Wellness and fecal Exam
  • Required and recommended vaccines based on lifestyle of pet.
  • Flea and tick preventative when appropriate (e.g. traveling)
  • The importance of Baseline blood work as it relates to organ function
    kidneys, liver, thyroid, etc)
  • Routine dental health
  • Diet and body condition
  • Behavior issues, socialization and training
  • If not spayed or neutered, the importance of alteration and disease prevention

Adult Feline: 4-8 years

  • Annual Wellness and fecal exam
  • Required and recommended vaccines based on lifestyle of pet.
  • Flea and tick preventative when appropriate (e.g. traveling)
  • The importance of routine dental cleaning.
  • Baseline blood work and it’s importance as it relates to organ function (kidneys, liver, thyroid, etc)
  • Senior wellness and LFAH recommended testing.
  • What to expect as their pet makes the transition into senior years.

Senior Feline: 8 years and Older

  • Annual Wellness and fecal exam.
  • Required and recommended vaccines based on lifestyle of pet.
  • Senior wellness and its importance.
  • Information we get from the following:

    • Baseline bloodwork
    • Urinalysis
    • Blood Pressure
    • Radiographs (x-rays) of the chest and abdomen
  • Flea and tick prevention if appropriate
  • Pain assessment
  • Current mobility issues
